Carriage Demons
There is a type of crusty citizen that cruise the streets in mobility carriages, sometimes in packs, running into anyone who dares cross their path.
Children are taught to be aware of these sadistic old codgers as, although only causing severe pain when they run into an adults legs and ankles, they could easily kill a child..........and blame them for it.
Some sport Battle Of Britain medals on their blazers as they line up to attack with the sun behind them.
Bottlenecks
Although the average age of the Rustington resident is 118, the “village” still requires THREE very large primary schools to cope with its population of young. Fewer than 10% of these children walk to school so the village gets clogged up twice a day by Chelsea tractors and SUVs dropping off the little darlings.
The other major bottleneck is when the ‘mobility scooters’ gather around the banks and post office on pension day.
Woodlands Street?
The spreading urbanisation sees Woodlands Avenue become a misnomer as the last trees are chopped into pulp. These last few mature trees, grown over decades, were chippings before the elderly lady in the picture lurched to the curb just out of shot in the foreground.
