What are they for? Why do we have to pay the wages of the planning office at Arun District Council?
Either they are utterly bent and on the take for the developers or they are utterly incompetent or they are simply powerless.
They provide no protection against the onslaught of developments in the area, with every application going through practically in its original form.
If, as is often claimed, they are always overridden by Westminster, then they are pointless - get rid of them and save our council tax.
You would have to keep some, of course, to continue persecuting domestic “rogues” like someone whose shed may not have FENSA approved glass in the windows. Don’t want the wrong shed glass ruining the town.
