An Appropriate Handle
During the 1970s, when the nations nerds, unloved and socially inept were in love with their CB radios, Littlehampton was known, internationally, by its call name - Ghost Town.
Accurate, but not the tourist boards favourite name.
The Specials
The early 80’s band, the Specials, had a hit single called Ghost Town. Many people thought this referred to Littlehampton, but in a radio interview, when asked if the song was based on Littlehampton, Terry Hall, the lead singer and founder of the Specials, said “Little what? Where the f**ks that?”.
So, tourist board, no mercy there then.
