Fort

Ask any LA school kid about the Littlehampton fort and they will say “I’m finking. Is the fort from yer ‘ed?”.

Hidden for years by the local authorities at West beach behind barbed wire and sand dunes, the fort (Napoleonic Bastion designed to guard the river mouth) is now barely visible and can only be detected by those who know it’s there.

Currently it is only accessed by golfers wanting a piss.

This is a local historical monument which would enrich the area if it were not hidden and off limits. It should be restored or conserved.

It’s a fair bet that none of the people from the cars parked in the picture know the fort is there.
