HMP Ford - The ultimate in Open Prisons. Like an Asian corner store, this prison should display a sign saying “We never close!”. The number of absconders per month out numbers the actual population of Ford. Luckily there is a railway station conveniently placed for those going further a field than a nights boozing in Littlehampton.
HMP Ford has been featured on the news and Panorama, amongst others, who all seem fascinated by the prisons liberal thinking on incarceration.
Satellite Direct UK - This company is a fairly recent addition to Ford and has been on TV more times than Tony Blair. Unfairly, this company has been victimised by BBCs Watchdog who seem to think that their masses of evidence from victims and their under cover reporters findings justifies accusations of foul play and dodgey practices. Shame on you Watchdog and shame on you the BBC!
Eco Town - Nothing has got both villagers upset before like the proposed Eco Town, not even the siting of a sewerage plant larger than the village itself (and doesn’t it stink!). Clearly the plan is just a way of justifying ruining a perfectly descent bit of mud by letting greedy developers loose to make a huge profit. Protest groups, where even people from Littlehampton were made welcome (as long as they don’t stay, of course!) to make up the numbers, will have absolutely no effect but never-the-less gets regular TV time. The new Eco town is so extensive that Ford will be effectively joined to Bognor Regis. Holy S**t! If you thought being associated with Littlehampton was bad.............
Ford is a small community that sits between an iffy industrial estate, a dodgey, constantly wind-blown market, a sewerage plant and an infamous (very) Open Prison.
Fords good point, for which God is praised each week in the parish church, is that it is physically separated from Littlehampton by the river Arun.
Considering there is so little of Ford, the actual village, it is on the TV a hell of a lot.
